    If an individual has not used up the amount on his GSM Chippie Prepaid account, when the card reaches its expiry period, calls are no longer possible.. The client must recharge his phone (with money ) in order to keep making phone calls. The amount will automatically be transferred to his account. The account must be recharged every two months( 60 days) in order to avoid disconnection.

  • What do I pay when I call a GSM Chippie from a home phone?

    Calling a GSM Chippie from a home phone, costs 50 guilder cents a minute. This rate is valid throughout the whole day.

  • Can I change all GSM phones into GSM CHIPPIE?

    There are some important points to be taken into consideration before a client acquires a GSM phone desired to function on the St Maarten UTS GSM CHIPPIE system.

    The St Maarten UTS GSM CHIPPIE system functions on a 900/1800 Mhz frequency (Dualband). This means that the phone that is purchased must be either a Triband version (900/1800/1900 Mhz) or a Dualband (900/1800 Mhz).

    The phone can't be blocked by the so-called SIM-LOCK. This is a locking system that operators insert in the phone, to prevent the phone from being used on a different network from the operator's.

  • How can I listen to my Voicemail? Voice Mail is the voice message recording service. An individual can access his Voice Mail when in Curaçao and when abroad.

    From Curaçao

    From a GSM CHIPPIE phone (local)
    To listen to recorded messages on the GSM CHIPPIE Voice Mail Service from a GSM phone in Curaçao, must dial *99, and follow the instructions.
    From a regular phone (local) To listen to recorded messages on the GSM CHIPPIE Voice Mail Service from the regular network, dial 9 519 9400 and follow the instructions.

    From abroad

  • How do I send HEPA from my GSM Chippie?

    HEPA is the UTS service that is commonly known as SMS (Short Messages Service). Through this service an individual can send messages of a maximum of 160 digits, directly from his cellular phone to another GSM CHIPPIE cellular phone. It's advisable to consult the phone manual to check how this service functions on each phone.

    In order to use the HEPA service from a GSM CHIPPIE, it's necessary, when using the service for the first time, to enter the UTS Message Centre access code. The number of the UTS GSM Chippie Message Centre is: + 599 9 519 9300 (you must add the "+" too).

  • How do I apply for Roaming?

    The Roaming Service offers individuals who travel to another country, with their GSM cell phones, availability on their local number. The Roaming Service is only available for the GSM CHIPPIE postpaid Service. When a client has the GSM Chippie cell phone service at his disposal, he doesn't have to apply for the Roaming Service. The Roaming Service is automatically on the GSM system.

  • At what value can I get the prepaid GSM CHIPPIE cards?

    • Prepaid CHIPPIE cards can be purchased at one of the UTS Client Service Centers or UTS cash desks and are also available all over the island in most stores that sell prepaid phone cards. The prepaid cards can be purchased at 10 and 25 guilders.

  • What's a CHIPPIE SIM-card?

    A Chippie SIM-card contains all information that corresponds to the owner of the phone/connection, such as: phone number, type of accessible service (prepaid or postpaid) and a list of numbers that the person calls more often (Phone Book).

    CHIPPIE SIM-cards can be used in any GSM phone. When a CHIPPIE SIM-card is used in a different phone, it gives the owner of the CHIPPIE SIM-card access to all of his original services and information.

  • Which services do I have in my GSM CHIPPIE package?

    Additional services :Beside the different options offered by the SXM GSM CHIPPIE service, the client has the following Personal Services at his disposal:

    • Atami (Caller ID)
    • Siguimi (Follow Me)
    • Wardami (Call Waiting)
    • Blòkiami (Call Barring)
    • Conference with three people (only Chippie Postpaid)

    The Atami service is automatically pre-programmed. In other words an individual can use this service immediately. In order to access the other services one must refer and program the phone as indicated in the phone manual. The manual gives specific instructions on how to activate these services according to the model of each phone. If the phone model doesn't have one of the above-mentioned facilities, this means that the service in question cannot be used..
  • What's a PIN Code?

    A PIN Code (Personal Identification Number) is a secret personal code of 4 digits that an individual can use to block his phone. By doing this, the client prevents other people from making calls on his phone.

    On purchasing a CHIPPIE SIM-card, the PIN Code in the phone is 0000. It's recommended to change this PIN Code before using a SIM-card.

    The PIN code must be used to unblock a phone .This PIN code must be used prior to using the phone. In the event an incorrect PIN code is entered several times the phone will be blocked and the PUK code will need to be entered in order to unblock the phone ( see PUK codes in the previous note )

  • What's a PUK Code?

    A PUK Code is an 8 digit code that an individual must use to unblock his phone. A phone is blocked when the incorrect PIN code is entered several times in a row. However, if the individual repeatedly enters one wrong PUK Code after the other, his CHIPPIE SIM-card will be permanently blocked. With the result that the CHIPPIE SIM-card can no longer be used. A new CHIPPIE SIM-card will need to be purchased.

    For a client's own protection and security, we recommend the PIN and the PUK-code to be stored in seperate and safe places.

  • What happens when a GSM Chippie Prepaid has no balance?

    When a client uses all his credit (available balance) on his GSM Chippie Prepaid account ,or if his balance becomes less than 1 guilder, placing calls is no longer possible. The account must be recharged ( with money ) in order to make phone calls again,.
    In order to continue making calls, there must always be a balance on his account. A GSM Chippie Prepaid, that is not active for a period of 5 months, will lose its connection and the phone number will expire completely.

    Although the rates are indicated per minute, UTS charges per second when the client is billed. A client speaks and pays per second.

    Interinsular/international calling rates

    For interinsular or international calls from both a GSM CHIPPIE prepaid phone and a postpaid phone we charge the costs of the interinsular or international rate per minute valid for the regular network, including a surcharge of 18% plus 5% Sales Tax.

  • How do I recharge my GSM Chippie account?

    You can recharge your GSM Chippie Prepaid account in various ways:

    1. by purchasing a prepaid GSM Chippie card;
    2. by purchasing talk time at one of UTS' Client Service Centres or any of the UTS cash desks;
    3. by purchasing talk time through the IZItime service of Girobank N.V. or at the desk of any of the Girobank N.V. branches;
    4. by purchasing talk time with the Bankomátiko card through the UTIL service of Maduro & Curiél's Bank N.V. In the same way, also at the desk of MCB branches or by using the Telebanking service MCB@Home.

    These services are also available at Banco di Caribe.
